Thisis the single lead (male) pigtail harness that plugs into the starter solenoid. Long term exposure to the elements tends to cause the plastic on the original pigtail to become brittle and crack/break. This replacement pigtail can resolve this issue. OUR PIGTAILS ARE UNIQUE BECAUSE WE CUSTOM BUILD THEM TO WITHSTAND THE HIGH TEMPERATURE ENVIRONMENT THEY OPERATE IN. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WIRE INSULATION WE USE IS REINFORCED WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE RESISTANT CLOTH TAPE, A PROTECTIVE LOOM SHIELDING, AND FINALLY AN OUTER HIGH TEMPERATURE REFLECTIVE FOIL FOR ADDED THERMAL PROTECTION.
Typically, the replacement harness is spliced into the vehicle\'s existing harness by crimping it in place with a butt connector and crimping tool (not included). Please be sure to use sufficient pressure with the crimping tool to ensure tight crimps on the ends of both wires being crimped. To verify that the new pigtail harness has been properly attached, use a FAIRamount of force to pull on both sides of the butt connector simultaneously. (USE ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF FORCE AS YOU IMPOSE WHEN TYING YOUR SHOELACES). The newly crimped ends should NOTgive any slack at all. If the wire(s) begin to pull out away from the butt connector, cut the butt connector off and repeat the process with a new butt connector and make sure to impose sufficient force on the new butt connector with the crimping tool.
