Keep Your Ride Comfortable with Our Universal Under-Dash Heat and Air Conditioner
We may try to rationalize why we don’t have air conditioning in our hot rod, classic truck, or even our muscle cars by saying things like it robs horsepower, or air conditioning is for wimps. But let’s face it, air conditioning your ride will make it a much more comfortable summer cruiser and you may just get your significant other to ride with you. Afterall, no one wants to show up at the cruise in soaked to the bone from the ride in your “hot” rod with no A/C. And while vent windows and cowl air vents help when your ride is moving, they don’t do anything in stopped traffic or if it is raining, so adding a universal A/C system under your dash is a quick and straightforward way to cool your cabin and make your passengers happy.
The same can be said for having basic heat for the fall and winter months too. While most cars came with a water-based heater system, we know far too many owners that have ditched the old under-dash heater core and all the hoses under the hood to the engine in the name of weight savings (because race car!) or due to damage not easily repaired like the fiberglass heater. Whatever the reason may be, having some heat to take the chill off in the cooler months is no doubt just as important as those summer months where A/C makes the drive to the cruise-in, or that Friday fun drive to work tolerable.
Perfect For Applications Not Served by Direct Fit A/C and Heat Conversion Kits
Our universal under-dash heat and A/C kit is perfect for those who have a vintage or unique ride that isn’t typically served by a complete retrofit heat and A/C system. Or perhaps you’re working with a tight budget and piecing together your heat and A/C system and only need the basics. Our under-dash heat and A/C unit is simply that, the basics. The black ABS plastic housing measures 15.75 inches wide by 13 inches deep and just 6 inches tall, which encases the evaporator and heater core units, along with the twin scroll three speed fan motor. The front mounted vents provide ample airflow into the cabin and can use standard 2.50-inch Shop A/C Duct Vent Hoses and Shop A/C Dash Vents to route the heated or cooled air to specific locations if desired. The remote mounted temperature and fan speed controls have a 24 inch harness length, allowing positioning where convenient to the driver (or flush mount the controls into your dash!).
Being an evaporator and heater only system, you will need to source the remainder of your A/C and heater system components separately. This allows you to build the perfect system for your ride and your budget. This is especially helpful for those with LS or other modern engine swaps where you may be using the OEM A/C compressor or an aftermarket serpentine Shop Accessory Drive Systems with A/C compressor included. Besides the Shop A/C Compressors and accessory drive you’ll also need an Shop A/C Condensers (either direct fit or universal, depending upon your ride), a Shop A/C Receiver-Driers and an Shop A/C Hose Kits to plumb the system. Of course, you’ll need to plumb the heater core to your engine with some fresh Shop Heater Hoses too. Lastly, if you plan to run an electric cooling fan, you will want to upgrade the binary pressure switch included with your receiver-drier to a Shop A/C Trinary Switches with fan output signal.

Summary: The unit was a little too wide I might have to shorten it by an inch so I can get clearance between my steering column and my glove box in my 66 Ford F100 other than that that's my only fitment problem. Unless you have a shorter unit?
Yes, I recommend this product.
