Summary: Pertronix states the distributor can be used with an ignition box but provides no hook-up instructions. I am using the distributor with a Crane ignition box and found it must be connected like points would be, not like a magnetic distributor. The mechanical advance curve is not adjustable but is fairly aggressive and is very close to what I set in my old distributor. Be sure to check the Pertronix web site to see the mechanical advance curve before making a decision. It is the lowest height vacuum advance distributor available except for the Mallory Unilite, and a taller distributor will not fit in my application. Otherwise, I would have to use a mechanical advance, only, distributor. I hope it will be more reliable than my old Unilite which suffered 3 module failures in under 1000 miles, even with the Mallory surge protector. Before that, I used it for 8 trouble-free years.
