6‑Step Straightforward Installation
- Take off old hoseCertified shop recovers refrigerant. Seal open ports right away against moisture intrusion.
- Cut hoseCut with hose cutter (3‑4 rotations then snap). Remove inner & outer burrs with 220‑grit emery cloth.
- Mark insertion depthCopy the fitting’s 1/4‑inch witness mark onto hose for full nipple engagement.
- CrimpMatch die color to fitting size: Black‑#6, Red‑#8, Yellow‑#10. Stop at auto relief, avoid over‑travel. Verify crimp OD with caliper (green zone only). Undersized crimps require full rework.
- Leak testPressurize to 150 PSI nitrogen. Use bubble solution for joint inspection. Zero bubbles = pass. Overnight hold: max allowable pressure drop ≤5 PSI.
- Evacuate & chargePull 29.9 in‑Hg vacuum for 30 min. Monitor 10‑min stand‑still vacuum loss ≤1 in‑Hg. Charge refrigerant by weight per hood label, do not use pressure‑only charging.
