This is not a generic Mustang replacement leather kit. The GT500KR embroidery and styling are tied to one of Shelby American’s most exclusive modern Mustang programs.
GT500KR – “KING OF THE ROAD”
TheGT500KRname stands for“King of the Road,”one of the most recognizable names in Shelby Mustang history.
The designation originally appeared on the legendary1968 Shelby GT500KR, powered by Ford’s 428 Cobra Jet V8.
Shelby revived the KR name again for 2008–2009 and then brought it back for the modern2020–2022 Shelby GT500KR.
The modern GT500KR was based on Ford’s Shelby GT500 and upgraded by Shelby American with a3.8L supercharger producing over 900 horsepower, carbon-fiber components, forged wheels, upgraded suspension, exhaust and unique interior treatments.
Shelby announced only60 GT500KR vehicles per model year for the U.S. for 2020, 2021 and 2022 — 180 total. This marked only the third generation of Shelby Mustang to carry the historic King of the Road name.
