These are very rare, original new old stock (NOS) SFT576 lamps. Often we find original NOS lamps like these, missing the original packaging. Sometimes they have some minor marks from careless storage, and this pair has a few shallow scratches and the odd pimple or two on the top retainer of one lamp, as the pictures show. Otherwise, they are in superb original condition, completely authentic and original. The listing is for ONE PAIR, that is, TWO lamps.
These beautiful lamps are the famous 5.76-inch Lucas SFT576 fog lamps, sometimes known as "Pathfinders." They are the lamps that won the Monte Carlo rally when used on Minis, provided elegant illumination on Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds and Jaguar XK 140 and 150, Mark I, Mark VIIM, VIII and IX, and dressed up the front of Austin-Healeys, Triumph TR2-3-4-5-250, MGA, MGB, Magnette, MG TD and TF, and so many other British cars. They were sold as options on many of these cars, and thousands were sold as accessory lamps in the 1950s through 1970s.
In addition to new old stock (NOS) lamps, we have a great many used original and reproduction Lucas 576 and 700 lamps, priced in accordance with their condition and rarity. We also sell lenses, bulbholders and other parts separately.
Lucas manufactured the 576 lamp from about 1952 through the 1980s, and numerous minor changes were made to the lamps during that time, including minor changes to the printing and font used on the glass, "LUCAS" on some lenses but not all, and either "MADE IN ENGLAND" or "FOREIGN GLASS". The chrome bodies carried a date stamp until about 1966, after which time this was omitted. Tell us the year of the car these will go on and we will do our best to supply a pair of lamps from approximately correct year. As the pictures show, we have many to choose from.
