Stands work on everything from as small as 4 x 100mm to as large as 5 x 130mm, and everything in between. We can make any adapter per your specifications. A Porsche centerlock adapter is in currently in development.
Stands are right and left handed to allow clearance for extra large brakes found on some Porsche GT3's & BMW's. The main body is constructed from 1" thick MIC 6 aluminum for the ultimate in flatness. Adapters made from 1/2" Mic 6 and bolt directly to back of hubstand and can be interchanged for whichever chassis your working on. Each stand is rated for up to 2000 lbs each. A precision ground steel plate which has been nickel plated sits into a recessed pocket for any magnetic accessories.
Toe bars (sold separately) are made from 3/4" MIC 6 aluminum to insure straightness over it's 35" length, but also available in a 28" length. A convenient tape measure slot is cut into each toe bar for easy one person measurement.
We recommend the use of a chain / belt alignment line laser tool to check the thrust angle of the rear of the car, or if you want to verify it the front wheels are perfectly straight. Profi line laser L-CAT used to be a good one, but we are testing other options that are more available and that may work better. As long as you use the same unit and switch it from side to side the accuracy of the laser doesn't matter as any error cancels itself out. All you need is a line laser with a magnetic base to project the surface forward so that you can measure that it's the same from side to side. We like the line lasers but technically a single point laser will work also. This measurement it taken at the opposite axle that you are working on. It is usually made by using a tape measure to see how much the projected laser line is measuring off the face of the other hubstand. Once you check this on both sides and you'll know if your thrust angle is off.
Stands allow you easy access to the suspension to easily adjust corner weights, and ride height. Just make sure your sway bars are disconnected during your balancing process and try to have at least one link with and adjustable length. Stands will remove any inaccuracies due to unevenly worn tires for the most accurate corner weights. You will want to remove the weight from the suspension to make your adjustments with any turn buckle adjustment being the exception. Stands allows for the measurement of Toe, Camber, and Thrust angle. Caster can also be measured with the use of specialty gauges and marking a 20 deg line with a framers square on the surface you stands are sitting on, and measuring with wheels turned both ways. Always start with Caster and camber adjustments 1st then toe and thrust angle second. After all that is done the car can be corner balanced. If you don't do it in that order each adjustment will cause you to redo you last adjustment.
We recommend only torquing the adapter plates to 25-30 ft lbs during installation.
