🔥 Columbia Two-Speed Axle Vacuum Plate — New Old Stock, Never Unwrapped 🔥
If you have a Columbia two-speed sitting on the bench waiting on controls, this is one of the pieces standing between it and a working overdrive. The vacuum plate mounts between the carburetor and the intake manifold and supplies manifold vacuum to the Columbia shift mechanism. Columbia's supplier catalogs it as the manifold spacer; most Early Ford guys call it the vacuum plate. Same part.
Unused, and still sealed in the oiled paper it was wrapped in decades ago. Three-bolt Stromberg pattern — the rectangular flange with one corner clipped — so it sits under a Stromberg 48, 97 or 81, a Chandler-Groves, or a Ford/Holley 94. Columbia cataloged one plate for 1935 through 1941 because the carburetor changed a few times over those years and the flange didn't.
Complete Columbia units trade well into four figures, and it is the controls that are hard to find, not the axle.
FEATURES & DETAILS
✅ Vacuum supply plate for the Columbia two-speed axle, mounts under the carburetor

✅ Two throttle bores with an integral vacuum takeoff nipple
✅ Cross-references to the Columbia B-49 / B-49K manifold spacer

FITMENT & APPLICATIONS
Columbia two-speed axle installations on 1935-1941 Ford and 1939-1948 Mercury. Columbia two-speeds were also built for the Lincoln-Zephyr V12. Fits the three-bolt carburetor base shared by the Stromberg 48, Stromberg 97, Stromberg 81, Chandler-Groves and Ford/Holley 94. A three-bolt plate of this type was also used to pull manifold vacuum for other period accessories, so confirm this is the right piece for your installation. Additional applications may exist beyond those listed.
CONDITION
New old stock and unused, still sealed in the original oiled paper — the photos show it as found. It has deliberately been left wrapped, so the bare metal has not been photographed and no casting mark or stamping has been examined. The wrapper carries the toning and handling marks you would expect after this long on a shelf.
