• This kit fits the 4.6L DOHC engine found in the 1996–1998½ SVT Cobra specifically. It is not compatible with the 4.6L SOHC engine used in the Mustang GT of the same years — that application uses Aeromotive PN 14103 (96–04 4.6L SOHC GT fuel rails). It is also not compatible with the 5.0L pushrod engine used in the 86–95 Mustang GT and Cobra — that application uses Aeromotive PN 14101.
• The \"1998½\" designation refers to the mid-year SVT Cobra produced by Ford with the DOHC engine configuration. Buyers with a 1998 Mustang should confirm their engine is the DOHC variant before ordering.
• This listing is for rails only. The kit does not include a fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel filter, or fuel lines. These rails are intended for use as part of a complete aftermarket or upgraded return-style fuel system.
• The rails use ORB-08 (8 AN O-ring boss) ports. For builds using -10 AN fuel line, the Aeromotive ORB-08 to AN-10 adapter (PN 15641, sold separately) is required to connect -10 AN hose to the rail ports.

OEM fuel rails use relatively small-diameter internal passages that restrict fuel flow at high injector duty cycles and high fuel demand — a bottleneck that becomes significant as injector size, boost pressure, or engine power increases. The 14104\'s 5/8\" full through-bore maintains consistent fuel pressure and volume across the entire injector bank regardless of power level, rated to support up to 3,000 HP of fuel delivery.
• Full-size ports at both ends of each rail ensure that fuel enters and exits at equal pressure, minimizing the hydraulic differential between the first and last injector in the bank. In factory rails with a single inlet, fuel pressure drops from the inlet end to the far end of the rail under high-demand conditions, causing the injectors farthest from the inlet to receive slightly less fuel than those closest to it — an imbalance that the Aeromotive design eliminates. Additional inlet/outlet ports are machined where the application requires them for flexible plumbing arrangements.
• ORB-08 (8 AN O-ring boss) ports provide a positive, leak-free connection sealed by an O-ring against a machined face — superior to NPT pipe thread connections, which rely on thread sealant and can loosen under thermal cycling. The O-ring boss connection maintains a reliable, high-pressure seal without the risk of loosening or thread sealant contamination of the fuel system.
• CNC-machined billet aluminum construction delivers precise fitment, a high-quality finish, and dimensional consistency that is not achievable with extruded or cast fuel rail designs. Each rail is machined to tight tolerances for correct injector cup spacing and bracket boss locations specific to the 1996–1998½ Cobra DOHC engine.

The Aeromotive 14104 is a billet aluminum fuel rail kit for the 1996–1998½ Ford Mustang SVT Cobra with the 4.6L DOHC engine. It is a rails-only kit — not a complete fuel system — and is designed to replace the factory fuel rails as the first step in building or upgrading a high-performance or high-horsepower return-style EFI fuel system on this platform.

The core specification is the 5/8\" full through-bore — substantially larger than the factory rail\'s internal passage — which allows the rails to flow enough fuel to support up to 3,000 HP without restriction. Full-size ORB-08 ports at both ends of each rail provide equal fuel pressure supply across the entire injector bank, eliminating the pressure gradient that occurs in single-inlet OEM rails under high fuel demand.
