From a local estate, where there were many antique autos and auto parts, I attended a several years back.
They were made to bolt either on the sides of bumpers or side of the vehicles, then when the cables are pulled, each pivots out as a directional indicator - left or right.
Both are made of heavy tin with heavier metal for the bases. Each has a metal cable to activate swivels and are both spring-loaded to return to their original position - laying flat against the vehicle.
Both have surface rust throughout, but no rot and would be an easy restoration.
