From 2009-2014 VW, Volkswagen used the Chrysler Alternator Control system where the Alternator Control and Voltage Regulator are in the vehicles computer. May times the alternator control will fail in the computer yet the vehicle runs fine.
Your only choice is to replace or rebuild the computer. Many times the computer is not available for you VW Van or takes a longtime to repair or the repair continues to fail.
