The XS650 has a sump oil filter on the bottom of the motor,
the original mesh filter always eventually tears,
and needs to be replaced with this newer style unit.
if it has not been replaced, and has over 10K, it is 99% certain it will be ripped,
and it allows unfiltered oil to get into the oil pump. Not healthy...It also has the crescent shaped oil filter, which filters the oilcoming out of the oil pump,
going to the rest of the motor, can usually be cleaned and reused,
but I like to replace both if it has never been done,as it takes some time to clean it properly,
and after a while, it gets so impregnated with metal shavings,that it is best to get rid of it. There are no disposable filters on this old motor.for the other filter and gasket, cut and paste this oil pump filter, Item: 222748247365
