In its first race, the 1999 Rolex 24 at Daytona, the C5R finished in 3rd place in the GT2 class behind the more experienced Oreca Dodge Viper team. Later on in the season, the C5-R was entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and managed 3rd and 4th place in the GTS class.
