Vintage 1920s-1930s Westclox Automobile Rearview Mirror Clock - Patent 1563431.
Up for sale is a highly collectible, original pre-WWII Westclox Automobile Rearview Mirror with a built-in mechanical clock. This was a popular premium aftermarket accessory during the late 1920s and early 1930s, frequently installed on classic vehicles like the Ford Model A, early Chevrolets, and other GM/Mopar models. The clock face features a distinct black art deco dial framed by custom service tracking indicators labeled \"CHANGE OIL\" along the top and \"LUBRICATE CHASSIS\" along the bottom. Both original rectangular slots for paper/cardboard mileage tracking strips remain intact. The back casing is cleanly stamped with original manufacturer text: \"WESTCLOX CO. LA SALLE, ILL. U.S.A.\" alongside U.S. Patent No. 1,563,431 (originally issued in December 1925 for the pull-wind design). It retains the heavy, genuine cast-metal mounting bracket clamp and its original adjustable ball-joint system.
- heavy crazing across the top half of the pane. The lower portion containing the clock dial and text markers remains completely legible and clear. No major chips or cracks to the perimeter of the glass pane.
- Mechanical Movement: Unserviced. The time-setting thumbscrew turns smoothly / changes hands easily, but the movement is being sold as-is.The pull-wind eyelet stem is intact on the lower left of the casing. It did pull, but is not running
- Hardware: The cast iron mounting bracket shows a nice vintage patina with light surface oxidation/rust spots consistent with a 90+ year-old automotive part. Mounting hardware is intact.
Perfect addition for a classic car restoration project, hot rod build, or an antique automobilia display collection!
