This second-generation PDK gear position and speed sensor assembly is designed as a direct replacement for a failed original sensor in applicable Porsche 911, Boxster and Cayman models equipped with the 7-speed PDK transmission.
Developed through three years of product refinement and field response, the revised internal design is intended to provide improved signal stability, positioning accuracy, heat resistance and long-term reliability.

The speed-sensing section uses an ultra-thin 0.1 mm magnetic signal-detection window. This design is intended to improve signal strength, reduce eddy-current effects and support improved heat dissipation.
A failed PDK gear-position or speed sensor may cause one or more of the following symptoms:
- Transmission enters limp mode
- Reverse gear unavailable
- Erratic, delayed or unstable shifting
- Transmission drops out of gear
- Transmission remains in the currently selected gear
- Vehicle does not move after a gear is selected
- Vehicle becomes undrivable after stopping
- Diagnostic software reports a shift-rod displacement or position-sensor fault
