If searching a Ford part number, do not use the suffix. Often times the suffix changed but the part design and function did not. In 1970 the US enacted price controls. This has a significant impact on part numbers since current part inventories could not have price increases. To overcome the problem, part numbers wereupdated by changing the suffix or by updating the part number year code to reflect the year in use.
