Here is a Counter weight bushing. Ford’s plastic design wasn’t worthy of production but they did it anyhow. I offer this simple round bronze replacement to help restore the counterweight’s function in the SVT shifting program. First time under the hood looking at your SVT shift linkage, transmission side anyways? You’ve heard there is a mysterious square plastic bushing that wears out and that’s where your slop comes from and why you fight so hard to find reverse. LOOK it’s right there on top, so darn easy!! WRONG! This is your counterweight and yes it has a worn out plastic bushing that is actually a rectangle. Truthfully the transmission functions 100% with this thing just removed – kind of like your appendix – no one is really sure why it’s there. Actually it gives the linkage a little momentum as you slide through the gears. So we can help you with that bushing as well as the real shifting problem – the other little bushing that works the shift tower up and down.
