Wiring Harness Variations
If you try to bolt a 2025 motorized tailgate onto a 2022 or 2023 Tundra chassis, it will physically bolt into the bed hinges perfectly. However, the power-up motorized lifting feature will not function unless you perform extensive custom wiring. Older truck chassis lack the factory wiring looms, fuses, and interior dashboard switch buttons needed to send power to the new lifting motors.Looking at the handle on the left is the camera lens, center is electronic switch to pop the tailgate open and to the right is a blank and below described.If your truck features cargo area illumination, Toyota did away with a dedicated light bulbing out of the handle bezel itself.
