The "68 GT500 featured a new split-scoop hood, rectangular headlights pushed outward, and chrome-trimmed taillights. With the introduction of Ford's Cobra Jet GT engine, production of the GT500 ended and Shelby began producing the GT-500 KR midway through 1968.
