The 2003 Boxster is a direct descendent of the original Porsche roadster. Offering a driving experience that is steeped in tradition, yet utterly incomparable.

Turn the key, and the engine bursts into life with the familiar sound of a genuine Porsche flat six. Ideally positioned between the cockpit and rear axle, the upgraded boxer engine develops a full 228 hp from an unchanged displacement of 2.7 litres. Maximum torque of 181 lb-ft is available from 4700 rpm. Equipped with a five-speed manual gearbox, the Boxster combines an eager throttle and optimised cylinder charging to reach 62 mph in just 6.4 seconds, and then a top speed of 157 mph.

The suspension is identical to that on the new Boxster S, but with a slightly softer setup for a more forgiving ride. The consistent use of lightweight materials helps minimise both total weight and unsprung mass. Straight-line stability is exceptional, as is mid-corner handling - even in the most demanding high-speed bends. Optional equipment includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM) for additional car control.

The new rear spoiler maintains the car's sleek aerodynamics, which include an unchanged coefficient of drag. The brakes are equipped with powerful four-piston monobloc fixed calipers made from lightweight aluminium.

As you"d expect, the cockpit is designed around the driver and passenger, and features the same improvements as the new Boxster S. The two luggage compartments offer exemplary loadspace for a two-seater sports car, and underline the genuine practicality of the chassis design.
