Based off the standard 1998 911 Turbo, the GT2 version was the most powerful road-going Porsche since the 959 besides the radical 911 GT1. The added power was attained by changing the turbocharger configuration and adapting the electronics accordingly. Besides the upgrade in power, the GT2 also featured exterior upgrades including extended wheel arches, adjustable rear wing with side air intakes, front spoiler, and speedline alloy wheels.
