Short of Kate Upton, we can't think of anything else that's as beautiful as the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept car. Designed to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Sony Playstation video game series Gran Turismo, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo was developed by Mercedes-Benz specifically for inclusion in the Playstation3 video game Gran Turismo 6.
Said to weigh a mere 3,053 lbs., the AMG Vision Gran Turismo theoretically pumps 577 horsepower from a front-mounted twin-turbocharged 4.0L V8 engine, resulting in a weight-to-power ratio of 5.2-pounds per horsepower. For reference, the 583 horsepower Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT coupe has a weight-to-power ratio of approximately 6.13 lbs. per horsepower and manages a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.
Low, with little-to-no fender gap, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo concept is a blend of classic Mercedes-Benz sports car cues and future ones. The car's grille is a homage to the classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL gullwing coupe; however, LED elements within the grille allows the silver supercar's front end to take on a number of different forms. The technology expands upon the diamond finish that Mercedes-Benz incorporates into a number of its new car grilles, including the compact CLA.
While the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo is nothing more than a concept at this time, its existence is a reminder of the brand's commitment to building some of the world's most exciting performance cars. Hopefully, the forthcoming Mercedes-AMG GT sports car will share some of the Vision Gran Turismo's gorgeous lines and epic proportions.
