Audi GmbH presented the AUDI A4 DTM Edition vehicle study at the 2004 Essen Motor Show to celebrate its successes in the 2004 DTM season. Audi won all three possible titles in the 2004 season. The new Audi A4 DTM Edition addresses customers who want to accent the already-sporty look of the standard model. Power is provided by the new 2.0-liter FSI turbocharged inline-4. The turbo boost was increased especially for this new model, increasing horsepower from 200 to 220, and torque from 280 to 300 Nm. Audi also added a S LINE chassis - dropping the suspension 20 millimeters with a firmer ride to handle the increased engine performance. The A4 DTM Edition rides on new 18-inch, multispoke rims which take their styling from the DTM race car. There are also new front cross-drilled rotors.
In addition to the performance upgrades, there are several visual enhancements. Outwardly the A4 DTM Edition differentiates itself by the new side skirts and the DTM signature in the protection strip of the rear door. The radiator grille is painted in phantom black as well as the bumper and side mirrors. Additional air intakes set a further sporty accent in front and in the back. The A4 DTM Edition can also be recognized by the new bumper and an additional carbon fiber spoiler lip on the trunk lid. The car also receives an upgraded exhaust system increased 100 millimeters in diameters, and sports a rear diffuser derived from racing.
The interior is sporty yet elegant. The side sills feature a DTM signature mark which can also bee seen on the floor mats in silver lettering. The Recaro sport seats are made with a combination of Alcantara and leather. Silver stitching provides an optical accent. The three-spoke steering wheel and parking brake are also covered in similar materials. Inserts and door linings are from the S4. Other features on the car include xenon light, climate control, front airbags, side airbags in front as well as Audi's latest generation traction control.
