With the S3 A.R.T. Concept Car trimmed for maximum sporting performance, AC Schnitzer's aim was to show what professional tuning can make of the two-door in the E46 model range. A.R.T. stands for Advanced Racing Technology and indicates the direct technology transfer from the Schnitzer race team to the tuning house AC Schnitzer.

Motorsport knowhow characterises the body of the S3 A.R.T., which is designed for maximum downforce and lightweight construction. The face of the study car is distinguished by the sports styled AC Schnitzer front skirt with generously dimensioned air inlets. Additional air slots are integrated into the sides of the wings. A complete AC Schnitzer aerodynamics package with roof spoiler, diffuser integrated into the rear skirt and an adjustable rear wing ensure more downforce on the rear axle.

This technology transfer is also implemented in a unique styling point. Telemetry data from an FIA Class II Touring Car is painted over the entire body - so the model designation AC Schnitzer S3 A.R.T. assumes a perfect double meaning.

The chassis of the AC Schnitzer Concept Car is perfectly set up for optimum handling. The stiffened height-adjustable AC Schnitzer racing suspension and further components are also fitted.

The S3 A.R.T. does not compromise when it comes to braking: the ABS-controlled system consists of 2-pot floating calipers and internally vented compound brake discs (Ø 334 mm) at the front, while at the rear 328 mm discs and single-pot floating calipers provide the deceleration. The braking system fits neatly into the extra large multipiece AC Schnitzer racing rims Type III in sizes 9J x 19" at the front and 9.5J x 19" at the rear.

The top speed is around 270 km/h (167 mph). This performance is developed by the S3 3.2 litre engine.

AC Schnitzer has also equipped this study with a two-seater lightweight cockpit and many more accessories taken directly from motorsport. These include an ergonomic AC Schnitzer three-spoke sports airbag steering wheel, pedal set and foot rests made of aluminium. This material is also used in individual components within the leather-trimmed dashboard.
