The 2006 Los Angeles International Auto Show is here...again. With a move from January to November, the LA Auto Show's 'new beginning' comes with a renewed interest from manufacturers and media alike. While still pale in comparison to the Detroit Auto Show, LA had a few notable world debuts and quite a few North American debuts.
Perhaps the most intriguing concept is the Giugiaro Mustang Concept, an American legend with Italian style. Fabrizio Giugiaro of Italdesign created the car in a partnership with Ford Racing. The design seems to be the most appealing from the rear, emulating the rear haunches of a 1967 fastback. The rest of the car shows its Italian flair with cow hide seats and an all-glass roof. The car is powered by a Ford Racing-sourced supercharged V8 engine putting out 500 horsepower.
Another important debut came from Lamborghini who introduced their Murcielago LP640 Roadster. Perhaps choosing Los Angeles because of its large client base in Southern California, Lamborghini unveiled its latest model alongside the LP640 Vercase and Gallardo Nero unveiled earlier this year.
Other cars making their debut include the Lotus Sport Exige Cup, Cadillac XLR Platinum, Callaway C16, Mazda Nagare Concept, and Acura Advanced Sedan Concept. Making their North American debut were the Audi TT Roadster, Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster, and Maybach 62 S.
