SEMA 2006 is here and the automotive industry has wasted no time in introducing thousands of new products. GM, Ford, Chrysler, and hundreds of shops have spent countless hours creating vehicles to showcase these new products, or simply just show automotive enthusiasts what their creative minds can come up with.
Perhaps one of the most radical cars on the showroom floor is the EcoJet Concept, built as a collaboration between the GM Advanced Design Studio and auto aficionado Jay Leno. The car is built on a Corvette Z06 chassis and suspension and uses the 6-Speed transmission, but that's where the similarities end. The car is powered by a turbine sourced from a helicopter producing 650 bhp. The body is completely built from carbon fiber to help reduce weight. Amazingly, the car runs completely on biodiesel.
GM has been busy introducing its new lineup of crate engines, one of which has been put into a special edition Reggie Jackson Camaro. Also showcasing crate engines are two 427-powered Silverados, one built by Orange County Choppers.
Ford has also been busy and has several modified Mustangs on display, including a new Boss 302 Mustang available from Galpin Auto Sports using the new 302 crate engine from Ford.
Chrysler has made big news with the Dodge Challenger Super Stock Concept. The concept car was built specifically for SEMA and features the new Mopar 392ci Hemi crate engine.
For a complete list of vehicles added, you can view the cars below. Check back often in the next few days as more vehicles are added.
