January 27, 2006 - American driver Phil Giebler has been given further opportunity to show his skills by being signed to stay on with A1 Team USA, something that he really deserves after an electrical failure robbed him of what would have been fifth place late in the feature race at the A1 Grand Prix of Nations, Dubai.

"I understood from the outset that I might be able to race for A1 Team USA in as many as four rounds," said the 25-year-old. "Right after the race in Dubai, team owner Rick Weidinger told me that I could have a second go in Indonesia, the race that has since been pushed back to February. Then, shortly after that, this race in South Africa and the season finale in China were added to my list.

"I jump at any opportunity to race, anywhere and in the past this had led to further one-offs but I'm hoping that the publicity I'm getting from competing in A1 Grand Prix will land me a full season of racing. I'd love to return to Europe to contest GP2, but most likely will contest one of the American open-wheeler series. In fact, I have a Toyota Atlantic test between this weekend's race at Durban and the next A1GP race in Indonesia, trying out for Paul Newman's team at the Moroso circuit in Florida."

A1 Team USA will be reintroducing Bryan Herta for the rounds at Monterrey in Mexico and then on homed ground at Laguna Seca. Herta raced for the team at Estoril, Eastern Creek and Sepang.
