Hello, many of you will recognize that name from my other listings here on . I'm in the process of setting up a new store in english especially for the US. As won't let me open a second store besides my german one under the same ID i had to set up this new ID "harveys-matchbox-us". All pre-production models listed here are still made in the UK as the Matchbox Research & Development department stayed in UK even after production was shifted to the far east. They are coming from an ex-employee of the R & D department who was involved in making these. As usual i do guarantee the authenticity of these models, they are all "Matchbox" made in the same facilities as Lesney made their pre-pros untill 1983. Many are decaled "decoration master" models. When a new livery/decoration was choosen test models were made featuring the old style waterslide decals. It was much cheaper to produce these decals then making the printing templates for the tampo printing machines - which were useless in case of an later colour change or any other error. Only when the last and final decision was made and the new livery was approved those expensive templates were made. Remember, in those days there was no such thing as a computer and program's like "Paint" available in these departments, to actualy see a new livery or colour on a model they had to produce an physical example, and in most cases more then one as these samples were sent out to various departments for approval. Therefore most of the decoration- and livery prototypes were made by hand, handpainted and handdecorated.MB122 IMSA Ford Mustang
A one of a kind prototype for the new MB122 IMSA Ford Mustang, red body, red base, opaque windows, hand decorated with "ATOM" deco to the hood and hand made stripes to the rear. The white stripes on the sode are hand painted too.
Rivets are still unsued, the base is glued to the body. A model in this livery was shown in the 1983 US Dealer catalog as a planned "CAP CAR".If needed i will provide additional pictures and details, just contact me.

catalogs, leaflets, trade sheets and therelike. Anything i list is an
genuine vintage collectible item. I do not use any kind of
"reproduction" parts.
