And for those interested in the car's history:An all-time classic story that makes the rounds among car collectors involves the conflict that arises whenever a very restorable and desirable car languishes because the owner refuses to sell it. This was the case with Frank White's striking, Marigold Yellow 1967 Pontiac Firebird.
After several rebuffs over a ten year period, Frank had given up on ever acquiring the aged Firebird. Then, out of the blue, the owner had a change of heart and gave Frank a call, offering the car for sale. With the blessing of his wife, Frank bought the car and the story of the car nicknamed "Dumb Luck" began to unfold.
Where does dumb luck enter the picture? While undergoing several various modifications on the Firebird, one was a new power steering pump. Shortly after installation of the pump the car was driven to an alignment shop which, it just so happened, was the same that Car Craft Magazine had taken thier latest project car to for an alignment. While the crew at the shop worked on the Firebird, they discovered a faulty valve in the power steering pump. The car remained in a disabled state at the shop for a week or so while a new pump was ordered. It was while the car was innocently parked there, awaiting a new power steering pump, that it came to the attention of the folks from Car Craft.
Eventually, it ended up on the cover of the June 2003 Car Craft Magazine and had a full feature written about its saga inside that same issue. Model features include 455 cu. in Pontiac V-8, Pontiac Ram Air IV heads, Holley Street Dominator single-plane with 750-cfm Edelbrock Performer Carb, Muncie M21 close-ration transmission, factory Hurst shifter, 17" American Racing wheels, low profile speed rated tires, photo etched brake disks, and custom Marigold Yellow paint with all body emblems removed.
