This 1/18 2009 Saleen S281 Extreme Mustang was produced by AutoArt! It has been finished inYellow and features opening doors, hood, & trunk, steerable front wheels, and a workable steering wheel. The Saleen S-281 is a variant introuced between the Fourth-generation Ford Mustang and Fifth-generation Ford Mustang which was produced by the American manufacturer Saleen, Inc. Throughout its time, with body work designed by Phil Frank, the S-281 has departed from the Mustang related designs and much become more of a model of its own design (most noticeably the within the 2005 - 2009 era). Previously referred as a Saleen Mustang, this Mustang now introduced a model designation based on the cubic cylinders of the engine for the very first time, now referring the car as Saleen281CID, or simply S-281. Any noticable option purchased by the customer is added after the 281, designating it's difference.First introduced in 2002, the Saleen 281 CID Extreme model now utilized a Saleen-built 4.6L (281 SI) V8 engine replacing the stock 4.6L 2V SOHC V8 Engine. Notable external differences on the S281-E featured a rear fascia with center exhaust as well as an unintergrated, large spoiler. With the new Fifth-generation Ford Mustangs introduced in 2005, a front splitter and rear diffuser were introduced to improve vehicle aerodynamics. Interestingly, the 6-speed transmission used from the 2005-2009 era was originally designed for the Pontiac GTO.
