Description:
Completing Ford's 1-2-3 result at the 1966 24hrs of LeMans was this GT40 driven by the American driver pairing of Ronnie Bucknum and Dick Hutcherson. Despite neither of them having raced in the rain before (and rain is rarely absent at LeMans!) they managed to finish 3rd 12 laps behind the GT40s of McLaren/Amon and Miles/Hulme. GT40 No5 was the first Holman Moody prepared car to finish, (Holman Moody being a highly successful team in NASCAR racing). The first two GT40s home were Shelby prepared cars.This highly detailed car features all of the details an experienced collector would except from a 1/12th scale GMP piece. From bumper to bumper, this car is authentic to every last detail. Taking out the front pins to lift up the body panel will reveal a spare tire strapped in with soft belts and photoetched buckles. An opening gas filler cap catches your eye as you pass back to the opening doors, which open to a whole world of intricate touches. Soft carpeting lines the floor underneath the soft seats and detailed gauges line the dash. The opening rear engine cover reveals the fully wired & plumbed power behind this road machine. The large scale of this car (1/12) allows for the most intricate of details. The car has a fully wired and plumbed engine complete with authentic markings and colorings. This can be seen by the removable hood panel. Opening the heavy doors, the interior is packed with textured racing seats and cloth 5-point harnesses. The steering wheel is covered with the same texture and rests in front of a fully detailed dash.If you remove the rear body panel, you'll find more wires and hoses. Underneath the removable tires are detailed brake rotors with all of the authentic touches possible. Also included with this large car are replica chains and poles to set up around the car to keep audiences back from the vehicle.
