1:18 scale Minichamps
1979 BMW M1 Art Car, as driven by Manfred Winkelhock, Herve Poulain and
Marcel Mignot at the 1979 Le Mans 24 hour. This model is in mint, brand new condition.
It has never left its perspex case and plaque, and still has its
plastic door straps all intact. Also included is the Art Car book and
display case, both of which are in perfect condition. The box shows light signs of storage wear, in the form of creasing on the corners. More pictures of the box (as well as the model's details) are available on request. This
car was one of the first 'Art Cars' to be produced, hand-painted in
this instance by the infamous Andy Warhol. The car would go on to finish
6th outright in the race, at which point it was retired from racing to
remain a museum display piece. As quoted in the accompanying Art Car
book: 'Warhol
explained the sweeping strokes he chose as follows: "I tried to portray
speed pictorially. If a car is moving really quickly, all the lines and
colors are blurred." Warhol was the first of the Art Car artists
to hand-paint his subject himself. These brush strokes are magnificently
replicated on the Minichamps model - it's truly one of the most
eye-catching and beautiful model cars to have ever been produced.International tracked and traced airmail postage to ANYWHERE in the world is £40.
