Aluminum way better than OEM plastic part.
I had to replace my plastic unit due to the cam position sensor failing, and having a broken cap mount hole. This new distributor came with a brass terminal cap and rotor that were better then the auto parts store premium parts I had already installed, which were the same price as this whole distributor! The only issue I had was when installing it I used the included lock down tap and it set a "PO1345" Cam to Crank position error code, probably due to worn timing chain. Swapped back to the original mount tab that allowed adjustment and set it properly and haven't had an issue since. So far so good!!
I bought this for 98 Chevy Vortec 5.7 (5.0 and 5.7 is the same) no issues. It is a full metal body appears to be aluminum, comes with cap and rotor along with camshafts sensor. It is plug and play with gasket as well and hold down clamp
