Home of the Hewitt-Tech Toyota/Lexus Secondary Air Injection System Bypass Kits. These kits offer a cost effective solution for the failure prone Secondary Air Injection Systems found on certain Toyota truck and SUVs. The bypass kit can prevent many of the trouble codes caused by a mechanical failure of the secondary air pump or a secondary air valve saving you as much as a $2000-$4000 on a repair bill, turn off your CEL and keep the vehicle out of limp mode. This wired version of the bypass kit installs very easily by tapping directly into the factory IAT/MAF Sensor harness. Detailed installation instructions are easy to follow and include all needed wire colors and an easy to read wire diagram for proper installation. For those that prefer a more professional and discreet looking installation this easy 6 wire hookup allows the bypass kit to look like it belongs in the engine compartment while being more affordable than our Plug In Version.

More About the Bypass Kit

The bypass module is activated when the ignition is first switched to "ON" and any time it detects a 4-12V signal on the starter relay wire. The starter relay option is only available on the Hewitt-Tech SAIS Bypass Modules! This option, when connected, ensures that the module actively prevents the SAIS from running on EVERY start. With the starter relay wire connected you can turn the ignition to "ON" for any period of time and the module will be active as soon as you crank the engine. Without the starter relay wire connection you would need to turn the ignition back "Off" and then crank the vehicle to ensure the module is active or the system could operate and cause trouble codes and the CEL to come back on. Just install the kit with the starter relay wire connection and don't worry about having to start the engine as soon as you turn the key on! If anyone else drives the vehicle this is a Must!

The included No.2 Exhaust Valve Block-off Plates are an integral part of the bypass kit (images may not match the plates you receive for your specific engine). The block off plates are the only way to isolate the exhaust valves and the related pressure sensor(s) from the exhaust. By completely isolating the system from the exhaust the pressure sensors are prevented from causing valve stuck open trouble codes which are the main cause of limp mode when this system fails. Even though a system is bypass and should never run again, the Exhaust No.2 valves can still leak exhaust and cause future trouble. Installing the block off plates is the only way to prevent future valve trouble and limp mode. Again, it is just best to install and forget about it.Don't see a kit for your vehicle? Trouble Codes

A failure of any component of the SAIS will generally set the check engine light (CEL) and cause the Engine Control Module (ECM) to store trouble codes. Many of these mechanical failures will also cause the vehicle to enter “limp-mode” where throttle
response is limited to 50% to protect the engine from damage. Before installing the bypass module it is highly recommended to address any codes not related to the SAIS. The codes below are the most common trouble codes that the bypass kit is able to let you clear once the kit is installed and the codes are initially reset. Many of these codes can be caused by a failing SAIS Air Pump which can also cause a loud vacuum cleaner noise for 20-30 seconds after a cold start. After the kit is installed the system is
prevented from operating and the below codes should not come back on, set the CEL or let the vehicle enter into “Limp Mode”

In general, the SAIS Bypass Kit cannot clear codes that are related to electrical faults or circuit malfunctions with the exceptions
of a few below and only under certain circumstances with the addition of a Pump Replacement Pack or a Pressure Sensor Jumper Harness to the bypass kit.

There is the occasional exception like a blown air pump fuse or damaged air pressure sensors.

Only vehicles with two damaged pressure sensor you will need a Pressure Sensor Harness-Double.

Usually caused by an open circuit/damaged air pump motor. One pack is needed for each code.


Explanations, Exceptions and Other Codes

C1201 - Engine Control System Malfunction
This is the code we call "the limp mode code". This is the code that indicates your VSC, TRAC and other safety systems have been turned off and you are in limp home mode. Not all scanners can read the C codes but if you are in limp mode it is probably there. Don't worry about this one when you take care of the other trouble codes with a bypass kit this one will clear also.

P2445 - Pump Stuck OFF Bank 1
This code is normally caused by the secondary air injection pump not being able to create proper air pressure because the pump impeller is damaged, the air pump motor has been damaged and or has blown the air pump fuse. If the air pump motor has been damaged it is very common to see a P0418 code also which indicates the pump motor has been damaged. If the air pump fuse has been blown this code will come on but you may not see a P0418 code until the fuse is replaced. If P2445 code only comes on during your cold starts the kit will be able to take care of it.

P011B - Temperature Correlation Error
This code is caused when the air intake temp and engine coolant temps are not within a certain range of each during the correlation test on a cold start. This code could be caused by having a damaged pressure sensor that is reading outside the normal range . Or, it could also be from installing one of our V3 or older units on a 2008 or newer vehicle. The V5 and newer units are specifically designed to avoid this problem.

P106B - Pressure Sensor Correlation / Evap. Pressure Sensor
This code is caused when the computer compares three different pressure sensors reading atmospheric pressure after the vehicle has been off for a certain period of time. If one of these sensors reads a pressure that is a certain margin outside the other two sensors the code will be set. It is often caused by a damaged secondary air injections system pressure sensor that is built into one of the air switching valves. The three sensor readings must be compared in the freeze frame data that was stored when the code was set to determine the offending sensor. If one of the SAIS pressure sensors is causing the code a Pressure Sensor Jumper Harness added to a bypass kit can be used to eliminate the code without having to replace the bad air switching valves.

To qualify for a return you must contact us within 30 days of purchase for a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. Once an RMA number has been issued they are valid for 14 days. All authorized returns are subject to a 20% restocking fee based on the original purchase price excluding shipping after receipt and inspection. Refunds will only be issued to the original purchaser and credited back to the original funding option (CC, Paypal etc...) At our discretion items returned in other than new condition, returned with no RMA or after an RMA has expired may be subject to higher restocking fees or have the return denied.
