These are hard to find in any condition, and nearly impossible to find without a shift grid!
This is an OEM Nardi Teardrop wood knob from a 2001 Special Edition Miata MX-5. In the U.S., the Teardrop was ONLY available on the 2000SE, 2001SE, and as a dealer package/accessory - they\'re no longer manufactured.
Normally the surface-painted shift grids will wear away at the edges, leaving an unsightly partial grid over a dark shadow grid under the enamel. In this case, the surface grid wore off completely with almost no shadow grid visible, creating a rare grid-free look that was never a factory option. There’s a pinhead-sized nick in the finish on the crown, so the price has been discounted accordingly.
These weighted Nardi Teardrops have exceptional feel and heft, unlike the lightweight, top-heavy Nardi Evolution knob offered on earlier Miatas. Also, unlike the aftermarket Nardi Prestige and Evolution, these are a perfect fit with no set screw - thread pitch is 10x1.25 (fits any generation MX5 as well as a variety of other vehicles). Fit is extremely snug with no movement, no rattles - feel is excellent.
Pictures tell the story - don\'t miss this rarity!
