Ask these sellers if they\'re refinishing GENUINE Porsche Factory pieces made by Deumer, REU or AR. Look at the backs of the items they\'re offering. The counterfeit pot metaljunk they\'re selling doesn\'t even have the correct Porsche part number on the back! GENUINE Porsche Factory crests are die struck / forgedpieces withmounting postssoldered onto the backside of the crest. Counterfeit items are easily distinguishedby mounting posts that are \"molded\" into the piece as they\'remade by pouring pot metal into a mold.Genuine pieces will also have the manufacturer\'s name and logo on the backside (DEUMER, AR , REU etc.).

Some Porsche owners think that the factory gold, red and black enameled hood crest, although timeless and distinctive, is just not \"right\" for the character of their car. I\'m a Porsche owner and enthusiast myself and realize that these cars are not mere transportation. Modifications to the performance, handling and appearance of your Porsche are a expression of the owner\'s personality.
This is a full size OEM Porsche Hood Crest, carefully bead blasted and refinished ina brushed triple nickel plate finish. Each piece is bead blasted to remove the cracked, faded or chipped cloisinee / colored enamel.It is thentriple nickel plated by hand to protect the finish against the elements. The details on the nickel plated piece are then custom painted with satin black and anthracite / metallic grey enamel.The nickel, black and metallic greyfinishes area great compliment to your wheels, exhaust and the model designation script on the rear of your Porsche.
The pictures of the used emblem and the refinishing steps are not pictures of the actual badge you are offerding on. They are included to illustrate the refinishing process that each piece goes through. Each of these pieces is made to order and not a \"in stock\" item. Since each is custom refinished it can be up to5 business days before we refinish your crest and the item ships to you. This is a custom piece made for your Porsche. You should know that all Porsche Hood Crests (with a 901, 993, 996 part number prefix etc.) are all the same size and are interchangable. The difference in part numbers reflects subtle changes to the badge design (lettering, border etc.). This crest will fit ALL Porsche models manufactured since 1963.This will not fit 356 models as the badge is a smaller size and mounts with a single post.

If you send me a used OEM Porsche Hood Crest (not an knockoff or counterfeit) free of gouges in the face metal I will credit $25 towards your purchase of a refinished emblem. Emblems with cracked, faded or chipped enamel / cloisinee are perfectly acceptable. I do reserve the right however to refuse a core emblem after inspection if it is in unuseable condition. Shipping expenses for sending the core to me are at your expense. If the core is in unacceptable condition it will be returned to you at my expense. MOUNTING TIPS:
It can be difficult to stretch the factory mounting gasket around the emblem. Making the gasket pliable is the key to an easy installation. Gently heat the gasket in a container of hot tap water for 10 minutes and the stretch it around the emblem before mounting it on your Porsche.
CAUTION!!! PLEASE NOTE:
When mounting this piece make sure that the retainers are firmly screwed onto the mounting studs but DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THEM. If they are too tight the tension between the mounting studs and the crest may pop the studs off the back. There is also a chance that you can pull the mounting surface (the hood sheet metal) inward creating a dimple effect. I would suggest that instead of over tightening the retainers you apply a small amount of black 3M Trim Adhesive between the crest and the gasket as well as between the gasket and the mounting surface of your Porsche. A 1oz tube of the adhesive is 3M part #03602, costs approximately $6, and is available at most auto parts stores.
I will not be responsible for replacing the crest if you ignore the suggestion above, over tighten the retainers, and \"pop\" the crest off the studs. Mounting the crest is a easy straighforward procedure. If you are hesitant however about mounting the crest yourself you may wish to take it to a Porsche Dealership or qualified Body Shop to complete the installation.
