Ford Draft Tube Flange
Another rare, obsolete Lunch Pail part !This draft tube flange is original equipment for any 1963 - 65 Ford or Mercury car equipped with 427 engine but not equipped with the 'Closed EV/EM' system as was mandated in California.In the early '60s, US car makers sought a cheap, easy way to vent crankcase pressure. The draft tube was just that — an open tube allowing the pressure to escape into the atmosphere.This flange was part of a just such draft set-up, but the tube was cut to save weight for drag racing. You can easily fabricate the tube from thin stock and it's largely invisible when in place.As shown, the flange is in great shape with no flaws except a small perforation on top (see photos) and no significant damage. The mounting surface is flat & true with no signs of corrosion.Do you maintain your classic for personal pride or are you hunting for those last few show-points?
