Ferrari 355 seat position potentiometer drive repair kit:

On the Ferrari 355 the power convertible top is enabled when the seat is in a position that clears the mechanism. If the top controller can't read the seat position, it will not deploy. Frequently when the seat position memory fails the problem is not the electronics. The seat position is recorded by the controller as a resistance read on a small potentiometer that is driven thru a gear box by the seat position motor. The final drive element is a nylon slip coupling that prevents the potentiometer from traveling past it's travel limit. The coupling has 2 petals retained by a spring clip against a ball on the final gear. With age the nylon hardens and ultimately one or more of the petals break off. The coupling is then unable to move the potentiometer and the controller can no longer sense movement or position of the seat.
This replacement coupling is 3D printed of ABS plastic at .005" resolution. It is fitted with a new spring clip in the event that the original is lost. Included is an alignment tool for assembly of the coupling to the final gear ball drive and instruction on replacing the coupling. The kit includes 2 couplings and the assembly tool. (the same kit is available with 5 couplings, listed under "Jaguar X300 X308 seat Potentiometer". It's the same part, but the Jaguar iteration uses 5 per seat.)A limited number of kits are available now, but more will be available soon.
