We install an plastic spacer between the door hinge check strap and the hinge pillar which allows the door to open approximately 4+ inches wider. It doesn’t sound like much but it makes a big difference when you get in or out of your Prowler.
Tools required:
10mm socket
Extension and universal
¼ inch ratchet
Installation;
Start with the left door.
Remove the top bolt from the check strap.
Loosen the lower bolt 12-13 turns, more will remove the bolt and cause complications.
Close the door until you get the check strap back into the door and then open it very slowly to get the check strap to pull away from the pillar. If you open it too far it will snap back to the pillar.
When you have it just right you can drop the spacer, rounded end down, between the strap and pillar, down over the lower bolt. It’s a tight fit but it will go .
Tighten the lower bolt enough to hold the spacer and then insert the upper bolt and tighten them both.
Do the same for the right side and you will be surprised how much easier it is to get in and out of your Plymouth Prowler / Chrysler Prowler.
