Wrap Details:
This is a brand new roll of PREMIUM 1/16\" x 2\" x 50ft of BLACK header wrap. This is a first quality black wrap manufactured from high grade 100% fiberglass to withstand continuous high temperatures up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. Along with this top quality wrap you will receive six (6) stainless steel quick ties for use in securing the wrap in place after installation.Wrap and ties are made in USA so you can depend on the quality of this product.
The uses for this wrap are numerous. It\'s most popular use is to insulate header pipes, exhaust tubes and other engine components in the auto and drag racing market. This wrap can reduce under-hood temperatures 50%-70%. It will also help protect other under-hood components (starters, plug wires) as well as the crew or mechanic who may have to work on a hot engine. This wrap is also commonly used in karting to help protect the driver\'s right arm and on motorcycles to help protect legs from burns due to the header pipe location.
This wrap is a 2\" wide so you get much more coverage with less footage as compared to narrower wraps on the market.1000 degrees Fahrenheit temperature rating is the maximum achievable rating on any 100% fiberglass product. There are additives and coatings that allow fiberglass wraps to achieve ratings of 1500F continuous and 2000F intermittent ratings. Feel free to check out our other listings for such products.
Some wraps are actually over rated for most applications. Products noted at LR, Lava, Titanium and Volcano are normally only recommended where the temperatures are extreme. Additionally, testing has shown that these types of products have an actual real world continuous working rating of 1200F and that the 2000F claims are just for intermittent exposure. Installation:
Our wrap has a premium weave and is very easy to install. Fully clean your pipes, removing all oils, greases, and other possible contaminates. Allow pipes dry completely before installation. When installing, generally 1/4\" overlap is recommended. Most installers like to start at the head and work their way down the pipe. Secure at both ends and along the length as needed. Additional overlap may be required at bends to achieve proper coverage.
Any header wrap should only be used if your engine is free of oil and other fluid leaks. Fiberglass can retain fluids, although the wrap is rated as noncombustible... the fluids that get into it can and may burn. Buyer, user, and installer assume all responsibility for keeping wrap clean and free from fluids and other contaminates. Seller is free of responsibility for buyer, user, or installer negligence.
Any header wrap can be used as a heat trace insulator only if the pipes are leak free.Generally it requires100ft at 2\" width to wrap a set of V8 headers. A single 50ft roll will wrap most 4 cylinders and many medium and small engine header such as motorcycles, karts, mini bikes, or some mini choppers and pocket bikes. As with any fiberglass product, always wear gloves, long sleeves, long pants, close toed shoes, safety glasses/goggles, and a dust mask/respirator when handling or installing.
