In 2002 ALTA Performance was the first manufacturer to design a two piece, taper fit Mini Cooper Supercharger Pulley. Today, It is the most imitated design on the market. Our latest version of the Alta pulley has taken pulley design to the next level. Installation is easier than ever, and the results are even more fantastic.
The Alta supercharger pulley and Alta crank pulley will increase your Mini\'s horse power byapproximately 20 horsepower. No additional modifications to the engine or ECU are required. Depending on your altitude, ambient air temperature, fuel octane availability, or if you have other performance modifications done; then you may want to consider upgrading your Supercharged Mini Cooper S to one-step colder spark plugs (also available in our store).
One easy way to remedy your MINI\'s laggy throttle response is with the installation of an ALTA Lightened Crankhaft Pulley!The 2% Over-sized has all the same features of the Alta 0% Stock Sized pulley but adds more boost to your car. By simply increasing the diameter of the pulley boost is increased, safely and reliably. Unlike some aftermarket pulleys which are underdriven and prone to charging and drivability problems, the ALTA Performance lightened crank pulley will have no effect on your cars charging system.
The ALTA LCP is engineered to increase horsepower and torque. The +2% overdrive effectively shrinks your supercharger pulley size by the same amount. A 15% supercharger pulley will act like a 17% and a 17% pulley will act like a 19%. This also increase the amount of belt contact with the pulleys, saving the belt and decreasing wear. Made from 6061T6 aluminum, the ALTA pulley is almost than 2lbs lighter than the stock crank pulley. The reduction in weight is effectively the same power increase as removing 60 pounds of weight from your vehicle. Also, the OEM pulley is a two piece design. While that may be a great place for MINI to save some money on manufacturing costs, it has plagued the MINI owner ever sense. The OEM pulley will come apart, and as such, wipes out the belt tensioner and leaves you stranded. When you upgrade to an ALTA LCP, those issues are eliminated!
Installation
You will need a pulley puller to reliably remove the factory supercharger pulley from your MINI. Once you have this, simply lift the engine, remove stock pulley and slide your new Alta Performance Version 2.0 pulley directly onto the supercharger shaft. Tighten the bolts, lower the engine back into place and your done! (Yes this has been simplified a bit, but using the included highly detailed instructions makes it much simpler.) There is no longer reason to remove the entire supercharger to pull off and press on a pulley. For California residents this item is classified for race-use / off-road use only.
