Hello my name is Scott and I'm a owner of a 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo that had ball joint failure. My family and I are in the aerospace machining industry and have designed a rebuild service for this problem after I was quoted $5200 for a pair of control arms from the dealer. I've been doing this service since 2011 and have had a 100% success rate. I have a thread on some of my work in the Lamborghini forum

THE PROBLEM
Gallardo front lower control arms fail in the ball joint area due to a burr left on the ball stud causing the inner nylon plastic bushing to crack and crumble into pieces. Even on some very low mile Gallardos the nylon plastic bushing will also fail due to it shrinking and creating a space inside the ball joint which will result in a banging noise when going over bumps and loose play in the suspension.
THE SERVICE
The ball joint will be opened up and the old nylon bushing will be replaced with a new product call Delrin. This new product is a very hard plastic polymer created by Dupont, it can be hit with a hammer and will not crack. The ball stud will then be inspected and the burrs will be polished out. The ball joint will be reassembled with a machined cap and have a grease access hole for greasing.
